One of my favorite things about family portrait sessions is the true candid interactions I have the privilege to capture. At the start of each family portrait session, I tell the parents to just play with their family like they would if they were at a park without a photographer, and I'll just stand back and document it. This is what creates the truly genuine smiles and laughter, and shows the family in a natural environment.Tim and Stephanie reached out to me over a year ago for family portraits, which we shot at O.O. Denny Park in North Kirkland. My favorite moment from that session was their daughter falling off a bridge. I know, that sounds terrible, but the bridge was only a foot off the ground, and she landed in some tall grass. Didn't even have a scratch on her, so in the end, it was pretty funny. When Stephanie recently told her daughter that they were going to Magnuson Park to take family photos again, the daughter asked if it was going to be the same photographer that was there when she fell off the bridge. It must have been a scary moment for her to remember that, haha!In the end, these four were an awesome bunch. We played in the tall grass, threw rocks in the lake, Tim was chased by the kiddos more than once, I was "taken to the gun show" quite a few times, and was chased as well! All while taking photos of these beautiful candid moments.
